Officers from Carrickfergus District LOL together with the Executive Officer met with a party of retired professional people from the USA. This party had already met the Parades Commission and afterwards had meetings arranged with the RUC and the Lower Ormeau Concerned Community. We were able to answer their questions and put forward our point of view. It was interesting to see some Irish Americans now becoming Ulster Scots !

11 September 2001

The Officers and Members of Carrickfergus District Loyal Orange Lodge extend their heartfelt sympathy to the people of the United States Of America following the acts of terrorism in their country. Our sympathy is sincere as for 30 years our people have had to suffer and continue to suffer the terrorism of Irish Republicans.

Grant, O Lord to all who are bereaved, the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience, not sorrowing as those without hope, but in the thankful remembrance of Thy great goodness in past years, and in the sure expectation of a joyful reunion in the heavenly places; and this we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.
